Hello again,
Well the Champions League competition for 3rd and 4th class came to a thrilling close last week here in BETNS. As always at the end of a sporting competition, there were some ecstatic children, and some very disappointed children. However, now that the dust has settled on it a little, I think all the children will look back on it and realise what great fun and enjoyment they had during the competition.
Here were the final results:
Borussia Dortmund 0 – 1 Bayern Munich
Man City 0 – 1 Real Madrid
PSG 1 – 3 Benfica
As you can see, there was very little between the teams in any of the games. The first game was between Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich. This was the final for 3rd place teams and a Martins Okojie goal won the game for Bayern Munich.
The final for 2nd place teams saw Man City take on the might of Real Madrid. This was very tight and it looked destined to be heading for a penalty shoot-out until Gordon Tuffour popped up with a wonder goal in the final minute. It was suitable that such a fine goal decided a fine game.
In the final for 1st place teams, the standard of play was very high from everyone involved. Alamin Olaosebikan scored a terrific hatrick for Benfica, while David Tashi scored for PSG to keep them in the game.
Well done to everybody who took part in the competition. There was some brilliant football, tense games, plenty of drama, lots of goals, penalty shoot outs. Most importantly, the games were played in a competitive but very sporting manner.
Slán go fóill – John, James and Stephen.
