Irish Aid Awards – Excellent News!

On Tuesday, three representatives from the Irish Aid team in James’ class went in to the Department of Education for the Our World Irish Aid Awards Regional Finals.  Their project about the Global Goals had been shortlisted as one of the top 15 in the region covering Dublin, Greater Leinster and Northern Ireland.

This was an incredible achievement in and of itself but to our absolute delight, on the day we were chosen as one of the top three projects to go to the national finals in June.  We were absolutely thrilled and to cap it all off, our project was highlighted on News2Day today!  You can see it on the RTE Player here  We’re at the very start of the episode!

Huge congratulations to the Irish Aid team (Conor, Alex, Precious, Tara, Gráinne and Rohit) on this incredible achievement!

Fantastic News!

We got some fantastic news this week – the fifth class Irish Aid project has been shortlisted for the regional final – one of the best 15 projects in the Leinster area!

Delivering the Lesson (40)

You can see all about our project at here!

Well done to the children from James’ class who worked on the project – especially Rohit, Tara, Conor, Precious, Gráinne and Alex.

We’ll now be busy preparing for the finals day on May 17th!

What a fantastic achievement!

The Global Goals Game by 5th Class

We are group of children from James’ class and have been working on a board game project to enter into the Irish Aid competition and to teach the school about Irish Aid and the UN Global Goal.  We are Tara, Alex, Rohit, Gráinne, Precious and Conor and we all worked together for 7 weeks and made a great project.

We learned about Irish Aid.  Then we learned about the Global Goals and thought of an idea for the project.  We decided on a board game after a democratic vote.  We also made a powerpoint to help teach our class (and other people!) all about the Global Goals.  We spent about 4 weeks making it!

The board game is suitable for children from 7 upwards.  It can be used by anyone who wants to learn about Irish Aid and the UN Global Goals.    The board is A2 size but you can print it on two A3 sheets if you need to.  You can print off the board, the cards and the rules by following the links below.  You will also need pieces for each person and a dice.
